This hot drink gives us the best of both worlds. Chaga is a balancing, adaptogenic mushroom from the birch tree. And Cocoa, with heart-warming properties.
There is a lot being written about Chaga right now, which is understandable since the explosive toad, as it is also called, has many benefits. The fact that it is an adaptogen means that it provides support and strength to adapt to external stresses. Örtfabrikens Chaga can be used directly, without heating. The maximum dose is 0.5 teaspoon per day. The price is high (Chaga has a sky-high cost, over 1000 SEK per kilo), but our powder is extra generous.
Chaga powder is perfect as a tea or hot chocolate drink. The mix of Chaga mushroom and Cocoa is so delicious. Perfect for those who want to cut down on coffee consumption, go caffeine-free and try something else instead. Here is our best hot chocolate. Without lactose / milk and without sugar. But some kind of sweetener is needed, so this time we used maple syrup.
Try this recipe and tell us what you think!
Here is the recipe (1 cup):
2 cups water
1 dl milk (e.g. almond milk)
1 tbsp coconut cream (note, if you like it)
1.5 tbsp cocoa
1 pinch of salt
1/4 pinch cayenne pepper
3 tbsp maple syrup
.
How?
Bring 2 dl water, 1 dl mylk, 1 tbsp coconut cream to a boil. Mix in the cocoa using a strainer to avoid lumps. Add maple syrup, salt and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir in 0.5 tsp Chaga powder. Taste! Need more sweetness? More saltiness?
We used a small hand whisk to get the foam up.
.
Note! You can stir in Örtfabriken's Chaga directly - as it has been extracted in several steps. However, if you have harvested Chaga yourself, you need to heat the mushroom first. The heat makes the mushroom's active ingredients available to us humans. If you have a piece of self-harvested Chaga, simply boil it in water for about 30 minutes. You should get a black liquid, which you then take 2 dl of and follow the recipe above.
.
With the help of adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms, we get support and can more easily adapt to everyday challenges. When we use herbs and mushrooms, we come into contact with the power of nature more easily. Feel free to look around Örtfabriken's blog. We have written a lot about Chaga, mushrooms and herbs. For example, we have a well-visited post about making your own Chaga tincture .
