Lavender Bags | Scented bag of lavender

It's easy to make your own lovely scented lavender sachets. They're lovely to have on your bedside table, in your wardrobe or in your dresser drawer. A lavender sachet makes a nice Christmas gift. Which of these scented sachets do you think is the most beautiful?

How to make a lavender sachet?

Choose a fabric and ribbon. Cut out a circle in the fabric. I measure by drawing a circle with a pencil around a plate. Add dried lavender. Tie with ribbon and make a nice bow. Done!

It is possible to grind the lavender; this will make the scent a little stronger. On the other hand, the scent may disappear a little faster.

If you want, you can think about color symbolism in your choice of ribbon and fabric.

When should you pick lavender to dry?

You harvest lavender when the flower is at its best. The flower should have a beautiful and clear color and the scent should be powerful. Harvest before it blooms. The recommendation is to harvest herbs and flowers early in the day, before the sun is too strong. But avoid days when it has rained. A wet plant is harder to dry and risks mold.
I prefer to harvest the whole lavender, not just the flower. This way I get a bouquet that is easy to tie together and hang to dry. See example in the picture below. I hang my lavender bouquets in a dark and cool place to dry. Then I store the herb in a glass jar in my herb storage.

What do you use your scented sachets for?

I love having my lavender sachets in my closet, between my clothes or tucked in my socks. Every now and then I rub and hug the sachets, hear them crackle a little, and then a scent of summer lavender comes out. Nostalgia and a feeling of home all in one.

Lavender sachets have been used as a pest repellent. For example
It is thanks to the fact that lavender contains camphor that it is a deterrent to certain insects.

Other exciting herbs to play with are hops. In the past, hops were used in the pillow for good sleep. Black cumin for lucid dreams , if you dare. Fragrant herbs such as various mints, eucalyptus, rose and chamomile also fit well in your scented sachet.
