The Amazing Tale of Fire Cider | Recipe

Many decades ago, Rosemary Gladstar (Herb Factory's herbal teacher and one of America's top herbalists) created a simple and wonderful recipe that she called Fire Cider. A bubbly and hot fermented drink. Perfect during cold season. Try it as soon as you get cold symptoms! You won't be disappointed, we promise.

True to Rosemary's habit, she takes what she has. Horseradish, chili, rosemary, ginger, garlic, onion. Season with honey and cover everything with apple cider vinegar. A tincture, simply put. Let it stand, strain and you have a real Fire Cider. See recipe below.

But not only did Rosemary create a fantastic elixir. It grew into something bigger. Here is the story of Fire Cider:

Fire Cider became so popular that it went viral. Or rather legendary, to use the expression of the time. The recipe was so appreciated that it began to be produced on a small scale here and there. The recipe was remade and Fire Cider became a beloved product by everyone in the kingdom. Rosemary's attitude in life is to let it grow and sprout. Not to limit and control. But Fire Cider became so popular that some others wanted to limit and control. A company crept out of the dark woods and trademarked Fire Cider. Suddenly, the small, local producers were not allowed to make Fire Cider anymore. Not even Rosemary.

Three knights decided to create justice and took up the fight. After a long trial in 2019, the trademark protection was revoked. The knights are HerbalRevolution , Maryblueherbalist and Wildflowerherbschool .

All's well that ends well! With this tale that is actually true, we wish you to also enjoy these old, traditional herbal elixirs. When you make your own Fire Cider, think for a moment about the power and strength that is in it and that it can actually be worth fighting against what is worth fighting for.

Make your own Fire cider Here is the recipe

This is Örtfabriken's version of Fire Cider:

1 horseradish

1 Chili

1 Orange

1 Lemon

2 Onions

1 garlic

1 piece of ginger

1 piece of turmeric

1 bunch of rosemary

1/4 tsp cayenne

A couple of grains of black pepper

DO THIS: Chop all the ingredients and fill a very clean glass jar. Fill with apple cider vinegar only to the top. Let the tincture stand for 4 weeks in a dark place at room temperature. Just to be safe, place it in a bowl or similar in case it drips a little. Strain it, season with honey to taste and bottle. Store cool!

Take a sip of Fire Cider daily. About 1/2 - 1 tablespoon. Or drizzle it over your salad! Delicious and with a kick. Inform yourself about the positive effects Fire Cider has. There are not many side effects reported, but since Fire Cider is a vinegar tincture, it can affect sensitive stomachs. Try it out.
