Make your own roll-ons and skincare with Örtfabriken's essential oils

Do you want to invite more scent and nature into your everyday life?

With Örtfabriken's essential oils you can easily create your own blends. I personally often use essential oils mostly for skincare and as cleaning agents. But also in ceremonies. Here are my top three recipes.

1. Roll-on for calm and grounding

I love roll-ons. I always bring a roll-on with essential oils when I travel. They give me a sense of calm. I often feel sick when traveling, and the scents and the ritual itself help me create my own space amidst all the impressions.

You will need:

10 ml jojoba oil or other carrier oil

6 drops lavender

2 drops sage

2 drops orange

How to make it:

Fill your roll-on bottle with the carrier oil, add the essential oils, and shake gently.

Apply to wrists and behind the ears.
Many people are now making their own perfumes, and essential oils are the perfect ingredient. Experiment to find your blend. I particularly like the blend of sage and orange. It creates a unique scent of its own.

2. Natural body scrub with Tea tree and Rosemary

I learned to make body scrub from my friend Ilga from Latvia. There, they often use scrubs in sauna rituals. Many recipes use sugar as a base, but Ilga used salt instead. Salt can sting if you have small cuts on your body. But the result if you use a salt scrub is fantastic. Try it!

You will need:

1 dl organic cane sugar. Choose salt instead if you prefer (note: it might sting)!

½ dl coconut oil

4 drops tea tree

3 drops rosemary

How to make it:

Mix all ingredients directly in a jar with a lid. Use in the shower on damp skin, massage in circles and rinse off. Your skin will be soft, fragrant, and revitalized. P.S. It's a natural product, so shelf life is limited; make a small batch and use it within a week.

3. Make your own cleaning agent with peppermint and tea tree

Completely without synthetic additives.

You will need:
5 dl water (preferably distilled or boiled for longer shelf life)

2 tbsp vinegar (12%) – dissolves grease and acts as a disinfectant

10 drops essential oil of peppermint

10 drops essential oil of tea tree – powerful against bacteria, mold, and viruses

(Optional: 1 tsp liquid soap or a few drops of mild liquid Castile soap)

An empty spray bottle (glass or hard plastic)

How to make it:
Pour water and vinegar into the spray bottle using a funnel.

Add the essential oils.

If you want a bit more lather, add the liquid soap or Castile soap.

Shake the bottle gently before each use.

Usage:
Spray on surfaces such as kitchen sinks, tables, tiles, and washbasins. Let it sit for a few seconds and wipe with a damp cloth.

Be careful!

  • Start with just a few drops – essential oils are concentrated and powerful.

  • Always test on a small skin area first.

  • Store your blends in a dark and cool place for best results.
