The summer months automatically become a time to spend with family. We try to do a digital detox, especially a detox of the phone. We want to use it as little as possible. If the family is together, you don't need to be available in the same way as you would otherwise in everyday life. Or is that right? It's simply easier to turn off the phone for longer periods of time.
During these longer, free times, there is time and peace to devote ourselves to what we like best. Learning more about herbs. Often the desire to read, reflect and take notes comes. All these beautiful herbal books are calling for one now.
In herbalism, you learn early on how to make your own herb cards. One card for each herb you study. In the picture you see my herb card in progress. Partly you want to learn what the plant looks like in its wild state, partly you can note what the herb is good for, what active substances it has, risk of confusion, etc.
You can add as many parameters as you like. How has it been used folklorically? What is the herb's magical effect? etc. Herb by herb you create your own so-called Materia Medica.
"It's better to know a lot about 20 herbs, than to know a little about 100 herbs" - do you agree?
