Since my daughter moved to Barcelona, I have had the opportunity to get to know the city better. Of course, I take the opportunity to visit the many herbal pharmacies and health food stores in the city. Here are my best tips! In addition to finding the best herbs in Barcelona, there is also good organic food and dietary supplements here.
1. Herboristeria del Re y
Address: Carrer Vidre 1, Barcelona
This herbal pharmacy takes first prize in beauty. So beautiful! There's even a little fountain with goldfish in it. Two women have taken over this epic pharmacy. There are pictures of Salvador Dalí buying his ointment here to get the cut on the mouse.
The pharmacy offers its own herbal blends. I take the opportunity to buy a blend for the immune system with, among other things, Echinacea, ginger and Cat's claw. Super nice! and with a beautiful seal. It is the herbal pharmacy's best-selling blend, besides "Golden Milk".

This is a chain of several health food stores in Barcelona. They offer organic food, dietary supplements, but mostly herbs. I get help from the world's cutest herbalist and ask for advice on a tea for my husband that he can use together with the periodic fasting. It will be a very exciting tea, where the main herb is the brown algae Fucus vesiculosus, a type of kelp. I am very interested in algae, seaweed and seaweed and strongly believe in including them more in our everyday lives. This algae (or seaweed, whatever is now correct to call it) in particular contains a lot of iodine and is therefore good for metabolic conditions and, for example, imbalances in the thyroid gland.
I also take the opportunity to browse through their selection and as usual can't resist dried Reishi. I'm a little curious about "La mano de Maria" (Anastatica hierocuntica), a dried flower that brings good luck. That'll have to wait until next time!
I really liked this store. At first they had trouble getting the blinds up and then the regular customers were standing and talking to each other in peace outside on the street. Inside the store it was full swing. Lots of visitors, a warm atmosphere and good advice!

I have been to this shop several times. The owner is very skilled and generous. The shop has a long history and the beautiful altar suggests that there are some ceremonies and rituals going on here.
I asked for a blend for peace and quiet and to let my thoughts rest for a while. A nice mix of passion flower, St. John's wort and other herbs was quickly mixed together. I wanted something that was calming, but not sleepy! I'm going to give it as a gift and I think it will end up just right. We talk a lot about different herbs and a little more specifically about the herb Immortelle, which they use in a very popular blend for allergies. I'm going to delve deeper into that herb!
I hope you were inspired to explore Barcelona's exciting herb shops! Wherever you turn in the world, there is always a wealth of herbal knowledge and local customs to learn about. Personally, I find myself more often in a health food store than at a tourist attraction. Do you too? Let me know if you have any tips to share about exciting herb shops!
