Since we got a small electric blender for coffee beans, we've been blending most things. The results are amazingly good. Finely ground powder from most things.
We took the opportunity to make our own herbal salt. It probably works well in a blender or, with a little patience, in a mortar. It's super easy and you're guaranteed to get an extra dimension of flavor in the kitchen.
For this herb salt, we used coarse salt as a base. Then we did what we usually do and took what we had available. It turned out to be sage (fresh), thyme and oregano (dried). We added pumpkin seeds and coriander seeds (wow).
For those of you who have followed our previous posts, you know that we like to experiment in the kitchen to get more nutrition into our everyday lives. For example, by adding algae, mushrooms and herbs. In this herbal salt, it was therefore perfect to add spirulina. And we had the world's finest algae at home, from @ebbasalger who has Swedish-grown spirulina. Unfortunately, we do not sell it at Örtfabriken.
Ingredients:
About 3/4 coarse salt and 1/4 herbs and algae. So if you choose 75 dl salt, add 25 dl herbs and spirulina. We mixed everything in our fantastic coffee bean blender (cost about 150 SEK) and the result was better than expected.
Pour into a nice jar and place on the table. Your guests will appreciate it!
