The Herb Factory's Meditation Guide | Start meditating | Herbs

Meditating can really change your life. Learn to meditate and gain access to a fantastic tool to use when life is challenging. It is a tool to release stress and improve your well-being. Did you know that you can enhance your meditation with the help of herbs? Here we have collected ways to meditate!

What do you do when you meditate?

You don't actually do anything when you meditate, except to be still and look inward. Close your eyes and breathe.

5 Tips for Getting Started with Meditation
  1. Choose a time and a place. Don't make it difficult. Isn't it incredibly quiet? Never mind. Meditate briefly to start with. For example, 10 minutes every day, which you will probably want to increase later because it is so nice to meditate.
  2. Sit comfortably, but not so comfortably that you fall asleep. Sleeping is also wonderful, but it is not meditation. For example, sit in bed with a pillow behind your back or on a chair with your feet firmly on the floor.
  3. Close your eyes and breathe.
  4. Focus your attention somewhere. The hardest thing about meditating at first is that your thoughts wander here and there. Let them come and go but don't attach any importance to them. Read below what can make meditation easier.
  5. Do nothing.

What happens when I meditate?

When you meditate, you look inward and get in touch with yourself and your higher self. On a physical level, meditation helps you relax, release stress, and make your body feel better.

But in meditation something bigger happens. On a spiritual and esoteric level, through meditation you gain access to the worlds beyond our world. You come into contact with the existential dimension and perhaps it becomes easier to understand what your role is here on earth, why we exist and why we die. We rarely have time for these questions in everyday life. We do not give ourselves space to process and think. This can create anxiety and worry. The benefits of meditating are to manage this anxiety and worry and instead come into contact with trust and care.

How to start meditating? Facilitate meditation

The most difficult thing for the meditator is to manage the mind. Thoughts come and go. Sometimes they are intrusive and completely throw you off track. Sometimes you can simply observe your thoughts, accept them and let them fly away. Then you experience a moment of bliss.

There are various techniques and tools to help facilitate meditation and keep the mind in check.

⭐Guided meditations. There are so many guided meditations, even free ones, to help you. Choose one on Youtube. You can choose guided meditations to get more focus, or a meditation to calm down in the evening. Should it be in Swedish or English? Don't get lost in the selection. Just choose one and get started. If you don't like it, change it.

There is a point in using the same meditation over and over again. The body and mind get into the meditative state more quickly when they get to practice the same thing several times.

⭐Meditative music . Also easy to use as there is so much to choose from on, for example, Spotify.

⭐Sound meditation . This can also be done digitally, but the effect is stronger if you participate in a live sound meditation. The person holding the sound meditation beats drums and singing bowls. Personally, I find sound meditation to be phenomenal when I am very stressed and not very here and now. The sound, i.e. the sound vibration, cannot be defended against. It penetrates you and creates a resonance in me. Deeply relaxing and meditative.

⭐Meditation techniques . There are many different techniques to learn to meditate more easily. Some techniques are very simple. For example, one technique is to focus on your breathing. Exhale and inhale. Another technique is to focus on a candle. Light a candle and squint at the flame during the meditation. Another option is to get your own mantra. One way to get a mantra is to join different meditation groups. Being in a group can provide togetherness and meditating together makes the meditation stronger. But what does the group require of you? Choose what suits you and choose wisely!

I have to tell you about Mudras, a technique with hand positions from India that I think is wonderful. It involves pressing different points on your hands in meditation. There are a hundred different mudras. You choose different mudras depending on what you want to achieve. Here, for example, is "Murty Mudra" for "peace of mind" and for those who multitask. You choose a couple of mudras and do them daily for a while. I personally think they have a great effect. We share a nice instructional video about three different mudras here.

Guru or not guru?

It feels like the days of gurus are over, or the need for gurus is less these days. It's more of a do it yourself spirituality. That is, we embark on the spiritual path in our own ways and with our own tools. We find inspiration in different places and receive guidance in different ways.

The Hindu word guru itself means teacher. If you find a good teacher that you trust and learn from, stick with him or her for as long as it feels good. In this way, we de-dramatize the word guru and see it more as a person who can guide us more quickly into the dimensions of spirituality.

Herbs to enhance your meditation?

Using herbs when meditating is a powerful way to deepen and enhance your meditations. Whether you want to deepen your meditation with herbs, meditate with a clear intention, or get more in touch with your spirituality, there are herbs to use! You may have just started meditating or you have been meditating for a long time, regardless of which, you can easily start meditating with your herbs. Linking your meditation with your herbs is an incredibly powerful way to deepen your meditation. Certain herbs are said to deepen our spirituality, heighten our intuition, and increase our connection to the universe.

We have received great feedback on our Happy&Relaxed tincture, which contains Feverfew and Lemon Balm. Our Blissful Tinctures are composed herbs for spiritual development. For example, there is the Meditate tincture, with the herbs Holy Basil and Gotu Kola , which are known herbs to enhance meditation. We also have the Rooted Life tincture , with herbs to get better grounding and a here and now feeling.

You take Örtfabriken's herbs in the form of a tincture internally. Try taking the herbs 30 minutes before your meditation. You take the tincture drop by drop, for example directly on your tongue or in your tea.

You can of course take the herbs however you like. Do you have dried herbs? Make an infusion of them. Do you have a strong herb that you are unsure about how it will affect you internally? Try making a steam bath of it instead and inhaling it. You can also use herbs by your side. Hold them during meditation or wear them as a charm.

The more you meditate with your herbs, the more you will experience the different energies of the herbs. You will see that the herbs are very different from each other and that they carry different energies or personalities. So let the herb help you deepen your meditative state and your spiritual development and in the process get to know the herb you are being helped by.
