Now we firmly believe that summer is over and that most of us have started to return to everyday life. It has been a different summer and we have all had to adapt to a changed society. Many have been affected on a personal level when loved ones have been affected. Many have lived an isolated life and long for routines to return to normal. We miss our workplaces, our high school friends and other meeting places. There are also positive sides to the pandemic's effect on us. For example, we have visited nature reserves and nature in a way that we have not seen before. For many, working from home has been liberating and has given us that extra time that we long for.
For us at Örtfabriken, the summer has been life-giving in many ways. Instead of going here and there, we stayed in the same place the whole vacation. We picked herbs and made preparations. We hiked a lot in forests and meadows. We bathed even though it was cold and had a sauna with scrubs and herbal oils every other day. We took the opportunity to drink infusions of wild plants. Lots of raspberry leaves, dewberry, nettle leaves and nettle seeds. Yarrow every day.
But we ate a little more than usual too. Bread and pastries. Ice cream and blueberry pies. Cheeses and jams. Chips and chocolate. Yes, I think it creates a good picture of a diet that has gone a bit out of whack. A diet that is not good for the well-being of the stomach and that easily puts the intestinal flora out of balance. Especially if you have problems with your stomach from the start. Your stomach becomes gassy, anxious and has difficulty recovering. Some of us get constipated. Others get loose stomachs and diarrhea.
Now that we are back in our everyday lives, there is a longing for a balanced stomach. The well-being of the stomach creates a chain reaction. A happy stomach puts us in a better mood and we get good and consistent energy. We don't even want to think about a bad stomach.
Here are five steps to a happy stomach:
- Add food that makes your stomach happy (clean and simple food we would call it. Unprocessed and free from additives)
- Add bitter substances that help digestion and the absorption of nutrients. For example, Happy Bitters .
- Add good bacteria/fermented food such as sauerkraut
- Avoid things that damage the intestines. For example, white as in flour, milk, sugar.
- Deep breaths. My stomach likes it.
