Make your own scrub | Baking soda | Salt or sugar

We learned this recipe for peeling or scrub at our ceremony this spring with Latvian herbalist Ilga. It's so easy to make and especially great during early summer when there are lots of flowers and leaves to pick.

One of the ingredients is bicarbonate, which we haven't used before. It gives a lovely and clean feeling. Must experience! The base is salt or sugar. Here you get to decide what you prefer. I prefer salt, but some people find it stings. Especially if you have small wounds on your skin. But it doesn't sting more than you can handle. In that case, choose sugar as a base instead.

Pick wild flowers and leaves according to the season. If it is not in season, choose dried plants instead. Suggestions include violets (ohhhh), bird cherry and lilac. Later in the summer you can choose linden flowers, hawthorn flowers and roses. You can also take wonderfully fragrant needles from spruce and pine. However, be sure to mortar the harder parts thoroughly.

Make a facial scrub with fresh flowers

You will also add some clay, if you have access to it. Clay has the ability to draw out impurities from the skin. The white clay is the gentlest and works best for dry skin. Green clay is good for oily skin, while the red clay is especially suitable for older and sensitive skin.

Ingredients

2 dl salt or sugar (your choice)

1 dl bicarbonate

1 cup green leaves and flowers (or dried)

2 tablespoons clay

Do this:

Thoroughly grind the green plant parts together with the salt. Add the bicarbonate and clay and grind some more. Store everything in a clean, dry glass jar with a lid.

Make your own facial scrub

To use your body scrub or peeling, take 2 tablespoons in a small cup and add a few drops of water. Stir until it forms a mushy mass. Shower and wash your body as usual, so that the skin is slightly wet. Now you can massage your body with your new scrub. It can also be used as a facial scrub. By using peeling, you remove dead skin cells and you renew the skin. It provides energy and flow in the body.

You will be surprised at how clean and smooth your skin feels!
